Cellulose laminate cutting boards consist of multiple layers of cellulose, which are pressed together under high pressure using a food-safe resin. This creates an especially dense and durable surface.

Advantages at a glance

  • Dishwasher safe

  • Very hygienic

  • Extremely durable

  • Gentle on knives

  • Dimensionally stable and robust

Light cut marks on the surface are completely normal. In fact, they indicate that your knife blades are being protected instead of becoming dull quickly. Depending on usage and personal preference, you can easily refresh your cutting board in three simple steps!

Caring for a cellulose laminate cutting board - step by step

Step 1: Sand the cutting board

If many cut marks have formed or the surface has become unsightly, you can lightly sand the cutting board.

How it works:

  • Use fine-grit sandpaper.

  • Sand the surface evenly.

  • Remove only as much material as needed until the surface is smooth again.

Step 2: Remove sanding residue

After sanding, all residue must be completely removed so the board is optimally prepared for care.

Instructions:

  • Use a dry, lint-free cloth.

  • Wipe the board thoroughly.

  • Make sure no sanding particles remain on the surface.

Step 3: Oil the cutting board

To protect the surface, lightly oil the board.

How to do it:

  • Rub the surface with a small amount of neutral cooking oil.

  • Do not use olive oil, as it can become rancid.

  • Remove any excess oil with a kitchen towel.

  • Let the board dry upright overnight.

  • The next day, simply clean the board again in the dishwasher.

After this, your cutting board is ready for daily use!

Tips for extra-long-lasting cutting boards

A few simple habits can significantly extend the life of your cutting board:

✔ Use sharp knives

✔ Clean the board immediately after cutting and ideally let it dry standing upright

✔ Store it dry and well-ventilated

✔ Only sand the surface when necessary

Conclusion:

With a little care, your cutting board will stay like new for many years

JADE cellulose laminate cutting boards are especially robust, hygienic, and easy to maintain. With occasional sanding, thorough cleaning, and light oiling, you can quickly refresh the surface. This keeps your cutting board beautiful, functional, and gentle on knives—even with daily use.
